Birds and Avian species

Marvan-Kroll Veterinary Clinic stands out for its in-depth expertise in treating birds. Whilst many standard practices have to refer bird patients elsewhere, we have the specialist knowledge and equipment to treat your feathered friend ourselves.

Whether it’s a parakeet, a parrot, poultry such as chickens and ducks, or even birds of prey such as sea eagles: every bird receives the specialist care it needs from us.

Our services:

A bird’s anatomy is unique and requires a specialised approach. We offer both preventive care and comprehensive medical treatments:

  • Primary care for birds: General health checks, advice on housing and nutrition, and treatment of common bird diseases.
  • Surgical procedures: We perform a range of operations on birds, from wound suturing to specialist soft tissue procedures.
  • Advanced diagnostics: Using our modern X-ray equipment, we can accurately identify internal problems in birds.
  • Laboratory testing: Rapid results through faecal analysis (testing for parasites or bacteria) and specific blood tests for birds.
  • Beak, nail and wing care: Correction of beak abnormalities and professional care to prevent discomfort.

Safe equipment and accommodation
Birds are very sensitive patients, particularly when anaesthesia is required. During a procedure, we monitor vital signs using highly accurate equipment. If your bird needs to stay with us for an extended period, we provide a quiet accommodation area that meets the specific needs of the bird species.

Personal attention and peace

A sick bird often only shows signs of being unwell at a late stage. That is why we take plenty of time to listen to your observations and examine the bird calmly. We explain clearly what the diagnosis is and what the treatment involves. Thanks to our experience with various bird species, we know how to minimise stress for the animal, which is essential for a successful recovery.
